Carol E. Russell is a nurse attorney. She obtained her B.S.N. in 1983 from State University of N.Y. at Binghamton. She worked as a critical care nurse in Atlanta, Georgia at Crawford W. Long Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital. While working as a registered nurse, she attended Georgia State University College of Law. Her nursing experience includes surgical intensive care, medical intensive care, cardiac intensive care, emergency room care and heart transplant care.
She received her Juris Doctor in 1988 and returned to New York, where she began her career defending medical malpractice cases. She has handled numerous malpractice trials since the early 1990's throughout metropolitan NYC. In 1993 Ms. Russell joined Aaronson Rappaport as one of it's first associates. She has been a member of the firm since 1997 and has served on the firm's Executive Committee. She has successfully defended cases with both complex medical and legal issues. In 2002, she handled one of the first Medical Malpractice cases in New York to apply the Frye standard and had the plaintiff's expert's testimony precluded.
Ms. Russell represents Registered Nurses and other allied health professionals in licensure and discipline matters and has handled civil rights claims for her institutional clients. She is admitted to practice in all trial courts in New York State, the First and Second Department Appellate Divisions, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
